The Art & Soul Center has teamed up with the Hollywood
Arts Council
to open the doors of our community art center
,
and we are excited to realize our dream of having a facility that
houses all of the wonderful programs we hope to offer the
community.

The Art & Soul Center together with the Hollywood Arts Council have a shared mission to open an art center in Hollywood; in order to foster collaboration between artists and arts organizations in Hollywood, by offering them a space where they can come together and share knowledge, ideas, talents, and a love for the arts.  We hope to be able to offer space to those arts organizations that do not currently have a space, and foster collaboration between those organizations.

This unique Creative Space will include such facilities as:
         • a Resource Center & Arts Library with such resources as tools for grant
writing, a play library, art research studies, and art business literature
         • a Meeting Place for artists, “an artist’s salon,” where artists can come
together, socialize and network, share ideas and talk about their art
projects, and discuss what’s going on in the art world
         • a Support Center for artists that would include support groups and a
referral & assistance program through which artists can be connected to
         resources in their community
         • an Educational Center that would include educational workshops, a
computer lab, lecture series' and work training
         • an Advocacy Center that provides opportunities for arts administrators,
advocates and artists to come together to network, share knowledge and
strategize on how to keep the arts vital in our community
         • an Arts Center that offers classes and creative opportunities, as well as
rehearsal, classroom and performance space, and an art gallery
         • a Community Center that provides an opportunity for artists to connect
to the community by teaching and mentoring youth, and creating art
programs that will benefit the community; and offering opportunities for
youth to get involved in the arts through internships, apprenticeships
         and an arts work program

“As leaders, we must understand that by inspiring young people through arts-infused learning opportunities, we can help the next generation reach their highest levels of intellectual, civic and economic empowerment.”

                               – Samuel, Hoi, President of OtisCollege of Art & Design

The Mission of this Creative Space will support artists and arts organizations with supportive and capacity-building programs; and will foster collaboration among its network of artists and arts organizations, which will strengthen the arts community and ensure that the arts continue to play an important role in Hollywood. Supporting artists and fostering collaboration will then create an opportunity for the arts community to work with the Hollywood community as a whole, thereby fostering a community connectedness through the arts, and strengthening the community of Hollywood as a whole.

            Who is Art & Soul?

The Art & Soul Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created in 2002 with the goal to create programming for the arts community and for the community of Hollywood as a whole.  Bringing together social work and art, Art & Soul strives to meet the needs of the diverse population of Hollywood: the need of the entire community for revitalization and community building via the Center’s Community Outreach & Development programs; the self-development, self-awareness, and personal growth needs of adults, children and families in the community through the Center’s Therapeutic Services, Empowerment Projects & Arts Education Programs; and the needs of the art and entertainment industry professionals through the Artist Enrichment Programs.

What Makes Art & Soul Unique?

Currently there is no such facility in Hollywood that brings together arts programming, community outreach, youth programming, and support services for artists -all in a creative setting.  Art & Soul will be a multi-purpose community arts center in Hollywood – a place where entertainment professionals can not only be nurtured as an artist, but as a person by having their social and emotional needs met, in addition to their unique career needs; and a place where those artists can foster collaboration, and in turn, give back to the community through art programs.

Art & Soul will also be unique in that it will be run entirely by professionals who have specialized degrees in areas such as social work, nutrition, life coaching, and career consultation, who are also experienced artists and entertainment professionals; bringing together their two areas of expertise for a very specialized service of art-based therapeutic programs, health & human services, and social programs.

Art & Soul is also unique in its specific mission to collaborate with other non-profits, city entities, and arts organizations, to meet the needs of the Hollywood community. Rather than competing with similar programs, Art & Soul will reach out to existing organizations to support their programs, improve access to those programs, or help in developing programming together through community partnerships.
